Naked and Empty

Naked and Empty

Meaning of the painting: “naked and empty “ serves as a poignant exploration of my emotional vulnerability. Through the deliberate brushstrokes and a strong color palette, this canvas becomes a mirror reflecting the raw, exposed essence of human emotion. The absence of intricate details allows people to connect with the profound emptiness depicted, showing a deep experience that transcends the painted surface. I try to show a visual language that invites introspection, encouraging people to confront their own vulnerabilities and the plain reality of the human experience. With the butterflies symbolizing hope, calmness and freedom .

Sana

Sana

Meaning of the painting: This particular painting signifies who I am, why I chose painting, why painting means so much to me and why I even chose the name Sana as my artist name. It reminds me of my sister, my twin sister, that I had never had a chance to meet so I always try to dedicate her in every painting I do having the butterfly with the halo on its head as my signature I always feel her when I paint like she guides my hands. I believe she’s the artist and I’m just a vessel for her work.

Drink n get Cold heart

Drink n get Cold heart

Meaning of the painting: I remember growing up as a child Before all these packets / plastic bottles of water. waking up to that morning tap water ,whilst the sun glistens on my face as I drink from it having that calm feeling of peace within myself or even after playing around with friends and drinking from a tap how refreshing and cold it felt . It’s really true that water does feed the soul, and with every sip, i felt my soul nourished.

Bondo Masquerade (Devil) and Sampa

Bondo Masquerade (Devil) and Sampa

Meaning of the painting:  A normal culture in Sierra Leone mostly performed by the Temenes ( my tribe) alongside the Sampa dancing whilst playing shekere besides the masquerade. This masquerade performers are earthly manifestations of spirits whether of ancestors or forces of nature. They come with different characteristics some are fierce while others are motherly and fun to be around . They play important roles like initiation into adulthood or passing to ancestorhood so as an African. I believe in culture and keeping in touch with our ancestors. This painting is a manifestation of that
