Meaning of the painting: George Junius Stinney Jr. (October 21, 1929 – June 16, 1944), was an African American boy, who at the age of 14 was convicted, in a proceeding later vacated as an unfair trial, and executed, for the murders of two young girls in March 1944 – Betty June Binnicker, age 11, and Mary Emma Thames, age 7 – in his hometown of Alcolu, South Carolina. John Francis

John Francis is a watercolour impressionist painter but also an abstract painter from Sierra Leone. My inspiration for painting emanates from the old sierra leonean masters. I like painting pre’ colonial architectures most especially the ones related with the Creoles. Portraying Suerra Leone’s history through painting is some thing I have developed passion for since the early stages of my artistic career and this could be reflected in most of my watetcolour paintings.

Elissa Habib El-Ali

Hello, my name is Elissa. My artist name is Lizo. I’m an abstract artist. I’m half Sierra Leonean and half Lebanese.
I grew up in the beautiful and bustling city of Freetown. Growing up I’ve always been someone who loves being creative. I discovered my talent at a very young age, but didn’t act upon it until about 2 years
ago, when I got inspired by the different types of art in some countries I’ve visited. Starting my painting journey was the best decision I ever made because painting makes me feel real and allows me to express my emotions by turning them into art.
