Agnes Kalibata

Agnes Kalibata is a Rwandan agricultural scientist, a policymaker and a champion for sustainable agricultural development in Africa.

Agnes currently serves as the President of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), a non-profit sustainably growing Africa’s food systems.

She previously served as Rwanda’s Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources from 2008 to 2014, leading the country’s efforts to increase food security and improve agricultural productivity.

Agnes has been recognized for her contributions to Africa’s agricultural sector, receiving numerous awards and honors, including the Yara Prize for the Green Revolution in Africa in 2012 and the National Academy of Sciences Award for Scientific Reviewing in 2019.

In addition to her work at AGRA, she serves on several international committees and boards, including the Global Commission on Adaptation, the International Fertilizer Development Center Board of Directors, and the Rockefeller Foundation Economic Council on Planetary Health.
