Patrick Timani is Building Africa’s Future Through Smart Mobility and Financial Inclusion

Patrick Timani is a Cameroonian tech entrepreneur and engineer who is using innovation to solve some of the everyday challenges facing urban Africa.

He is the co-founder and CEO of Bee Group, a company working to formalize and modernize the motorcycle taxi industry in Francophone Africa.

Through Bee Group, Patrick is helping to create safer, more reliable, and digitally powered transport and delivery services for people across the region.

Patrick studied embedded systems engineering at Pforzheim University in Germany, gaining a strong foundation in technical systems.

He later pursued further training in microfinance, mobile money, and electronic banking at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

His early career included internships and roles at companies like Siemens, Thales, and Fraunhofer IOSB, where he gained valuable experience in technology and systems thinking.

These experiences helped shape his vision for applying technology to improve everyday services in Africa.

In 2018, he co-founded Bee Group to transform informal motorcycle taxi services into a professional and structured sector.

In many cities across Francophone Africa, motorcycle taxis are one of the most common forms of transport.

However, the industry often lacks regulation, proper safety measures, and financial inclusion for the riders.

Patrick saw this as an opportunity to bring change.

Bee Group provides drivers with access to motorcycles through asset financing, offers insurance coverage, and uses digital tools for ride-hailing and logistics services.

Services like Bee Moto and Bee Delivery have since become key parts of Bee Group’s growing platform.

Beyond Cameroon, Bee Group has expanded to the Democratic Republic of Congo and is planning to scale to other African countries.

Patrick’s mission is not just about building a successful business — it’s about creating jobs, improving transport infrastructure, and promoting financial inclusion in cities that are growing quickly but often lack formal systems.

Under his leadership, Bee Group was selected for the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund in 2022 and received $300,000 in funding.

The company has also partnered with key players such as Yango and Baloon Insurance to expand its service offering.

In 2025, Bee Group launched a $1 million electric mobility project in Cameroon, introducing electric motorcycles and charging stations in major cities like Douala and Yaoundé.

The project aims to reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs for drivers, showing Patrick’s commitment to building sustainable solutions for African cities.

Patrick Timani’s work stands out because it touches on multiple challenges that African countries face — from youth unemployment and urban mobility to environmental sustainability.

He is not just building a company; he is part of a growing generation of African entrepreneurs who are focused on practical solutions with long-term impact.

His efforts continue to attract attention across the continent, as more people recognize the role of local innovation in driving Africa’s development.
