She began her career as a nurse and experienced firsthand the challenges facing hospitals and patients in Cameroon.
One of the most painful moments for her was seeing patients die because hospitals could not access blood when they needed it most.
That experience inspired her to build practical solutions to improve healthcare delivery.
She first launched Infiuss Blood, an online platform that connected hospitals in Cameroon with blood banks to help them find blood supplies faster.
The platform helped reduce the time it took for hospitals to locate blood, saving lives and easing pressure on medical workers.
But Melissa soon realized that the deeper problem in healthcare across Africa was not just about blood supply – It was also about the way research and innovation happened—and more importantly, who was being included in that research.
That insight led her to transform her business into Infiuss Health.
Today, Infiuss Health is a digital platform that enables pharmaceutical companies, research organizations, and healthcare startups to run clinical trials in Africa.
It helps them reach and recruit patients across different African countries, collect data, and manage trials remotely.
Through this platform, Melissa is opening new doors for African people to take part in medical research that has global impact.
Her mission is to make Africa a central player in global health research, not just a recipient of finished products from elsewhere.
She believes that if Africa is included in the early stages of clinical research, it will lead to more effective treatments for African populations and create long-term benefits for the entire continent.
She also wants to show that Africa has the infrastructure, talent, and patient populations needed to contribute meaningfully to scientific progress.
Melissa’s work has earned global recognition. In 2018, she won the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award for Sub-Saharan Africa.
She has been named to Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 list in the healthcare category and has spoken at several international conferences about the future of health innovation in Africa.
Through Infiuss Health, Melissa is bridging the gap between African communities and the global medical research industry.
Her work is improving healthcare access and saving lives, as well as helping position Africa as a vital part of the world’s innovation ecosystem.
