Swiss Fintech Centi and Yellow Card Partner to Simplify Money Transfers from Europe to Africa

Swiss fintech company Centi has announced a new partnership with Yellow Card, a leading cryptocurrency exchange that operates across Africa.

The collaboration will allow people in Europe to send money more easily to 20 African countries, expanding Centi’s coverage from eight countries previously.

With this new service, users in Switzerland can convert their money into cryptocurrency and store it in Centi’s secure digital wallet.

From there, they can send money directly to their loved ones in Africa.

The recipients will receive the funds in their local currency, making the process simple and convenient.

The partnership is powered by Yellow Card’s crypto-to-cash system, which makes cross-border money transfers faster and more affordable.

This is especially helpful for African migrants who often face high transfer fees and poor exchange rates when sending money back home.

Bernhard Müller, CEO of Centi, said the partnership is part of their effort to change the way remittances work.

He explained that for many years, migrants have had to deal with hidden charges and unfair exchange rates. He believes Centi offers a better solution that helps people save money and send more support to their families.

The new service offers a more cost-effective way to send money. For example, sending 100 Swiss francs now costs only about 2 francs, compared to the 15 francs charged by traditional providers.

It also gives users access to a wider network, including major markets like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.

The system connects with mobile money services such as MTN, Airtel, and M-Pesa, and users can also send funds directly to more than 100 banks across the continent.

Chris Maurice, CEO and Co-founder of Yellow Card, said the partnership will improve the remittance experience by removing hidden costs and offering stable exchange rates.

He said that by working with Centi, Yellow Card is helping to deliver fast, safe, and transparent transfers to millions of people across Africa.

Yellow Card has become a major player in the crypto industry. In October 2024, the company raised 33 million US dollars in equity funding.

It now operates in 20 African countries and has processed more than 3 billion US dollars in transactions. Since then, it has expanded its services and formed partnerships with major global firms like Coinbase and Block.
