Plentify and Conlog Partner to Expand Smart Energy Solutions Across Africa

| Article

South African climate-tech company Plentify has partnered with Conlog, Africa’s leading smart metering provider, to deploy intelligent energy management systems to over 50 million households across the continent.

Announced at Enlit Africa 2025 in Cape Town, this collaboration aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs for consumers and utilities alike.

Plentify specializes in integrating advanced hardware and artificial intelligence to optimize home energy use.

Its flagship products, HotBot and SolarBot, connect to household appliances, enabling them to operate during periods of low demand or high renewable energy availability. This approach not only lowers electricity bills but also alleviates pressure on the grid.

Conlog, with a presence in over 58 countries and more than 17 million smart meters installed globally, brings extensive distribution and utility networks to the partnership.

This infrastructure will facilitate the rapid scaling of Plentify’s technologies, particularly in regions facing energy challenges.

The partnership also leverages Conlog’s role in South Africa’s RT29 Transversal contract, which streamlines procurement for smart electricity and water meters.

This alignment is expected to accelerate the adoption of Plentify’s solutions in municipalities, enhancing energy management at the community level.

Plentify’s innovative approach has garnered recognition, including the EEP Africa Project of the Year 2024 award for its Smart Geyser initiative.

This project demonstrated significant reductions in peak energy consumption and improved grid stability by intelligently managing water heater usage.

In 2024, Plentify secured a 50% oversubscribed funding round from prominent African and North American investors, including E3 Capital and TELUS Pollinator Fund for Good.

This investment supports the company’s growth in South Africa and its expansion into international markets.

The collaboration between Plentify and Conlog represents a significant step toward smarter, more sustainable energy consumption across Africa, offering consumers greater control over their energy usage and contributing to a more resilient power infrastructure.
