South African private equity firm Sanari Capital has invested $14.4 million in telematics and fleet management company Ctrack, joined by $9 million from long-time partner 27four Investment Managers.
Ctrack operates globally—including across Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia—and its Crystal platform delivers predictive insights to customers spanning logistics, construction, insurance, and government sectors.
This new capital follows Ctrack’s strategic purchase of Inseego’s international telematics business in 2024, a deal backed by private equity firm Convergence Partners.
That acquisition expanded Ctrack’s footprint in key markets and reinforced its global presence.
Ofentse Pelle, a partner at Sanari who led the transaction, described the investment as coming at a “critical inflection point.”
Pelle noted that while Ctrack is already established as a global player, it remains committed to further scaling, underpinned by a leadership team with a strong track record and clear strategic vision.
Pelle emphasized the challenging conditions for fleet operations in Africa—such as infrastructure deficits, cross-border logistics complexities, connectivity in rural areas, and security concerns—and suggested that telematics solutions developed under such demanding circumstances tend to be both world-class and transferable to other regions.
“This investment comes at a pivotal inflection point for Ctrack,” he said.
“The business is already well established as a global leader but continues to show ambition for further growth. We are backing a management team with an impressive track record and a clear conviction to building a business with an enduring impact,” he added.
Echoing that optimism, Rory Ord, Head of Private Markets at 27four, stated that Ctrack has built a robust foundation and is well-positioned to step up its growth by leveraging advanced technologies and deep domain expertise to meet the evolving requirements of fleet operators globally.
For Convergence Partners, the participation of Sanari and 27four enhances Ctrack’s shareholder base at a moment of global expansion.
By aligning with investors with whom they have worked before, Convergence expressed confidence in Ctrack’s potential and in its capacity to lead continued innovation in telematics.
Samantha Pokroy, Founder and CEO of Sanari Capital, noted that the deal exemplifies Sanari’s investment philosophy—seeking growth that does not depend solely on macroeconomic expansion, but is driven by sectoral tailwinds, technology, and an “active investment” style.
