British International Investment (BII), the United Kingdom’s development finance institution, has announced a new $5 million funding package for Lovegrass Ethiopia, a food company transforming the ancient grain teff into consumer products for both local consumption and export markets.

Proparco, the private sector arm of the French Development Agency, has invested $5 million in Novastar Ventures’ Africa People and Planet Fund III, which has now reached a final close of $147 million.

Finnfund, a Finnish development finance institution, has committed a $4 million debt investment to Kenyan internet provider Poa Internet to accelerate the rollout of affordable, high-speed broadband across underserved and low-income communities in Kenya.
